Lyndi + Hunter - Wedding day
Hunter and Lyndi's love is something special. Watching their excitement build throughout the months leading up to the wedding was such an encouragement; these two simply couldn't wait to be husband and wife. We flew to Memphis the weekend of their wedding knowing it was going to be an awesome wedding. Between the couple, their families, and their friends we had no doubts it would be a celebration of love that we couldn't wait to capture. We were able to steal the two of them away that Friday morning for a countdown session the day before the wedding. The timing was perfect; it was great for them to have some care free time away while they were in the midst of full-on wedding prep. And, I'll just say this... Collierville, Tennessee is the type of small town that makes you feel like you're in a fairy tale love story-- it is precious! Their downtown square is quaint, beautiful, and the perfect background for some shots that showed off where they came from and helped to tell even more of their story.
We spent most of Saturday with Lyndi and her tribe of women-- her awesome mom, her hair stylist, and the bridal party as they got ready out at the Leath's Family Farm (Hunter's family). Pictures will have to show the beauty of this land, because it was amazing. They had so many friends and family helping with wedding preparations-- from the most stunning reception florals to delicious cobbler and more. Long story short: there were SO many people who poured their time and talents into this deserving couple, and it was such a special touch.
My favorite story of the wedding day comes just before the ceremony. Hunter and Lyndi told us at our very first meeting that they had no interest in a "First Look" before the wedding; Hunter wanted to see his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle towards him. We loved that. But Delyn can be a little sneaky, and he's the biggest advocate for ensuring that our friends have some really special moments on their big day, so he worked with Hunter behind the scenes to plan a surprise for Lyndi.
We snuck Lyndi into the church (the church they met at many years ago) and tucked her into a room about forty-five minutes before the ceremony. On the car ride to the church, I (Megan) told Lyndi that Delyn was hoping to get a few shots of her alone before the ceremony began-- that he had found a hallway with some beautiful, natural light, and that we could keep her hidden from the guests. Because Lyndi is awesome, she went along with it. As we photographed Lyndi in the hallway, Hunter was actually hidden in a room maybe 20 feet away, listening and waiting for his cue. We carefully directed her to a pose around the corner from where her groom was hiding, and asked her to trust us. A few seconds later, the hallway was filled with the sound of Hunter's guitar as he played the first few chords. It wasn't until he began singing the first lyrics that we could see Lyndi's emotional response to what was going on. And the rest was just magic. Hunter sang for his bride, and then prayed over her. It was one of the most special moments we've witnessed. And it was absolutely the perfect way to enter the ceremony-- with that reassurance they gained from being in the presence of each other and from their time in prayer and preparation.
We'll try to let the photos speak for the rest of the evening-- the ceremony and the reception were fantastic. This couple and the people that love them are some kind of special. We hope you can feel how much love and authenticity translates from the photos! Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Leath!! We hope these photos help you celebrate your wedding day and look back on a truly amazing occasion.
